Jackson's First Birthday

Will's buddy Jackson turned one, and we got to celebrate at his fun birthday party!  Jackson's mom, Megan, did a wonderful job decorating for the party with a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme.
It was so cute!

It ended up being a beautiful Saturday afternoon, so most of the party was spent outside where the kids could play.  There were a lot of kids!

Will had fun playing cornhole and walking around.
He looks like he's ballroom dancing when he walks.

Jackson wasn't so sure about his cake at first, but once he dug into it, he loved it!

Love this family!

Will was upset the cake wasn't for him this time.

We've known for a while that Will knows how to turn on the charm for the ladies, but he showed us on a whole new level that day.  He spotted this little beauty and only had eyes for her.
(And maybe the balloons.)
He found a lovely leaf on the ground, saw that she was sitting on the grass, and went and sat directly in front of her.  He then offered her the leaf.  What a Casanova!  She wasn't too thrilled by the token of his affection and turned to her daddy, crying.  Two of her daddy's friends were standing there witnessing the event (Wayne and I were watching from afar) and were impressed by his persistence. He wasn't deterred by her cries and kept trying to give her the leaf.  The daddies loved it and encouraged him to never give up on the ladies no matter how many times he's rejected.  A good lesson for him to learn early! :)

He found her again later, and went to sit by her.  This time he was content playing with the party hats, although he did try to offer one to her.

Once he found the balloons, though, he only wanted those.  He loves balloons!

Will also became attached to Megan's dad.  He'd never met him before,
but the first time he saw him, he walked right up to and reached for him to pick him up!
He was as content as he could be hanging out with his new buddy.

Once the festivities were coming to a close, Will found "Papa Doug" again and went straight to him.

Happy First Birthday, Jackson!  We had fun celebrating with you!
