The days are numbered before Will gets up the nerve and the confidence to take some steps on his own. Until then, he loves pushing his firetruck and lawnmower!
Getting ready for Will's first birthday party took so much out of me, that apparently it took me a while to pick the camera back up. I don't have many pictures from the month of March, but I do have some fun videos.
My mom was giving Gidget a treat, and Will thought it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen.
In January, Will and I started watching a DVD that teaches babies sign language.
Needless to say, he loves it.
I love every second of watching these two together.

Do you have this app on your iPhone or iPad? If you have a child, you definitely need it. Will loves spending as much time as we'll let him "talking" to Tom and hearing what he has to say back to him. Before I could get the camera rolling, he was saying "mama!" to Tom...
I can't believe you are one year old already! There was a time when I thought this day would never come, but it did. And now I can't believe your first year has come and gone. You are growing into such a big boy, full of personality and energy.
Speaking of growing, it's hard for me to remember when you were this small...

You've gone from being our little glow worm...
...to being our little monkey.
You have done so much in your first year of life.
You've overcome many struggles from reflux and poor weight gain to eczema and the discovery of a peanut allergy. You've dropped from the 40th percentile in weight at birth to the 2nd percentile. All of those issues combined made it very difficult for me to breastfeed you, but we made it through your first year (a huge accomplishment for me!). Once you started eating solids, your weight gain improved and there was less pressure on me to make sure you got enough milk from nursing. You are a great eater, and your daddy and I are very grateful for that.
You've done so much that I guess it makes sense why you're such a busy boy!
You love to get into everything these days. You're not walking just yet, but you're a fast crawler and can pull up on anything. You certainly keep us on our toes!
You are a social butterfly, and love waving to people as you see them. {You remind me a lot of your Great-Granddaddy Waters in that way.} You're not afraid to approach strangers, but you don't always want to be held by them. You play really well by yourself and keep yourself entertained with all of your toys. You love playing your piano...
...and playing the big piano (or watching daddy play).
At your 12 month doctor's visit, the pediatrician and nurses got to see what a firecracker and little flirt you are. You love charming the ladies with your smiles and waves.
You've recently gotten into biting me a lot, but your pediatrician gave me some good advice on why you're doing that and how to make you stop. I'm happy to report, her advice worked.
Your 12 month stats:
Weight: 18lbs 9oz, 2nd percentile
Height: 29.25 inches, 24th percentile {slight drop there, but you've got a short mom...sorry, buddy}
Head circumference: 18.15 inches, 49th percentile
You're still nursing 3-4 times a day, but your GI gave us the "go ahead" to try cow's milk.
You really liked it, but it didn't like you. You broke out in the worst eczema I've seen since we discovered the peanut allergy. You're not allergic to milk because you can have yogurt and cheese, but we'll have to hold out on the straight cow's milk for a while.
In the meantime, you're drinking soy milk and love it.
You're still in size 3 diapers and growing into 12-month size clothes.
I've learned many things throughout the past year, but perhaps one of the biggest things I've learned is to not have unrealistic expectations of myself or you.
No one is perfect, no matter how hard I may try to be. We've had our good days, and our bad days. But no matter how hard it may be sometimes or how long the hours before daddy gets home from work may seem, I wouldn't trade a second of it to be anywhere else.
You, my precious Will, are the light of my life (and your daddy's, too). You bring so much joy to us on a daily basis, and we feel so blessed that we get to be your parents. You are the greatest thing that has ever happened to us, and we will always be grateful that the Lord has given you to us.
