Summertime with the Greenes

I forgot (oops) that on July 4th, we met my parents and brother for lunch to celebrate Russell's birthday (June 30), Wayne's birthday (July 6) and Father's Day.  Will doesn't see his uncle Russell very often, so he was excited to spend some time with him.

Want to help blow out the candle?

Happy Birthday!

Last week, my parents stopped at a farmer's market on their way home from the mountains and offered to bring over some fresh veggies.  Then it got even better - my mom offered to cook for us.  I'll never turn down an offer like that!  Two of my favorite things about summer is fresh fruit and veggies and cooking with friends or family.  The food was delicious!  We had fresh corn, squash, zucchini, tomatoes, onion, green beans and rotisserie chicken. YUM.

Mom and me hard at work shucking the corn

The aroma coming from these three pots was heaven

Dad assumed his duty of getting the chicken ready

Gidget waited patiently, hoping with all hope that Dad would "accidentally" drop some chicken

And no summer meal in Georgia is complete without homemade peach ice cream!
(although it was a little more ice than cream)

After the delicious meal, the grandparents got in some fun play time with Will

Showing Grammy how good he is at standing up!

I love summer and spontaneous get-togethers!
