Two Months

Will started smiling for real (i.e. it wasn't gas related) when he was around 6 weeks old.  It started when he was on the changing pad in his room - he loves laying there.  Wow, what a difference it makes when your baby starts smiling at you!!  He completely melts my heart with his smile.

Right at the end of 6 weeks, I went to bed expecting to wake up around 2am to feed him.  When I woke up and saw the clock, it was 5am and he was still sleeping!  What a treat that was!  I was hoping it wasn't a fluke, and it wasn't!  He consistently started sleeping 5-7 hours a night.  It was great!  I started feeling like a human again and not as much like a zombie.

We also started seeing more of his personality start to shine through.  He is a very laid-back and happy baby, which is a huge blessing for us.  I keep saying I'm afraid baby #2 will be a terror since Will is such a good baby. :)

We were late in getting our swing for him, but I'm so glad we got it.  He loves looking at himself in the mirror at the top of the mobile!  It is so cute!!  He doesn't love swinging back and forth; something about the motion scares him.  He doesn't mind side-to-side swinging, but mostly he likes looking at the mobile and at himself in the mirror.

I was so nervous about his 2-month check-up because that's when he would be getting shots.  At the advice of my friend Megan, I planned the day so that he would be ready to nurse by the end of the appointment.  That was comforting to him and it also distracted him from being upset about the pain of the shots.  But good grief, the look on his poor face when the nurse stuck him with that first needle!  He was looking at me smiling, then all of a sudden it was a look of horror..."what was THAT?!"  Poor thing...I think the nurse helped me not get upset over it.  She kept me laughing.  He did great, overall.  He was extra sleepy the rest of the day.  I sure didn't mind him napping so well!

Here are his stats from his 2-month check-up:
Weight: 11.5 lbs, 48th percentile
Height: 23.5 inches, 70th percentile
Head circumference: 15.5 inches, 29th percentile

Sorry for all of the swing pictures, but he lights up when he catches himself in the mirror...and I can't help but take a million pictures of it!

Words can't describe how much I love this picture :)

Daddy is funny!

If you look back at this post, you'll see how much bigger he is in Wayne's lap now!
